Frequently Asked Questions

01
Glass packaging spans a wide range of formats, including beer bottles, beverage bottles, sauce bottles, food jars, spirit bottles, and dropper bottles. The right format depends on your product type, filling process, regulatory requirements, and shelf positioning. Evergreen supplies glass packaging across all three major glass categories: standard glass, cosmetic glass, and pharmaceutical glass.
02
Glass is non-reactive, impermeable, and provides an effective barrier against oxygen and moisture, making it one of the most reliable materials for preserving product integrity and flavor. It is also 100% recyclable without any loss of quality or purity, giving it a strong sustainability profile relative to many other packaging materials. For brands, glass also carries a premium aesthetic that communicates quality — a meaningful consideration in categories like spirits, cosmetics, and specialty food.
03
Glass packaging is used across food & beverage, wine & spirits, personal care, and pharmaceuticals. Food & beverate bottles and jars are among the most common glass formats, while cosmetic glass — including dropper bottles — is widely used for prestige skincare and fragrance. Pharmaceutical glass serves applications where chemical inertness and contamination control are critical requirements.
04
Glass packaging is available in a range of standard colors, including clear (flint), amber, green, and blue, with color selection typically driven by light-protection requirements and brand aesthetics. Amber glass is commonly used for beer, pharmaceutical, and light-sensitive products, while clear glass is preferred where product visibility is a selling point. Green glass is commonly used for wine and certain beer styles, where it offers moderate UV protection and carries strong category conventions. Cobalt blue is chosen primarily for aesthetic reasons, adding a distinctive, premium look.
05
Glass packaging supports a range of decoration techniques including embossing, debossing, silk-screen printing, frosting, acid etching, hot stamping, and applied ceramic labeling (ACL). The right method depends on the design complexity, substrate, and the desired finish. Evergreen's decoration capabilities are integrated with glass production, so brands work with a single partner from mold development to scaled production to finished, decorated packaging.
06
Custom glass molds are a strong option for brands that require a proprietary bottle or jar shape that stock formats cannot deliver. Custom tooling enables unique silhouettes, embossed logos, and structural details that reinforce brand identity at retail. Evergreen manages the full mold development process — from initial drawing through sampling and production approval — with pilot molds averaging 30 days and production molds averaging 50 days.
07
Glass is 100% recyclable and can be remelted and reformed indefinitely without any degradation in quality or purity, making it one of the most circular packaging materials available. Its inert composition also means it requires no additional barrier coatings or liners in most applications, simplifying the recycling stream. Evergreen offers glass packaging options produced with recycled glass content, supporting brands' sustainability commitments.
08
Quality in glass packaging is managed through dimensional inspection, wall thickness measurement, pressure and thermal shock testing, and visual defect checks at key stages of the manufacturing process. Evergreen QC engineers are onsite at all productions globally, and every facility in our network is audited across 165 quality management metrics.
