Frequently Asked Questions

01
A cartridge is a cylindrical container that dispenses viscous products — such as caulk, sealant, adhesive, or grease — through a nozzle, usually with a caulking or grease gun. Also called caulking or grease tubes, cartridges are a popular packaging format in the industrial chemicals sector. Evergreen produces cartridges in plastic, fiber, and aluminum materials.
02
A caulking cartridge works by using a moving plunger at its base to push product out through the nozzle at the front. Loaded into a caulking gun, the trigger drives a rod against the plunger to dispense a controlled bead of sealant. The tip can be cut down to widen the bead, and Evergreen offers both integrated and separated nozzle designs.
03
A grease cartridge is designed for use with a standard grease gun to lubricate machinery, while a caulking cartridge dispenses sealants and adhesives through a nozzle. Grease cartridges are typically plastic or fiber and follow standardized dimensions for gun compatibility. Evergreen's grease cartridges come in standard sizes and closure options and comply with DIN 1284 standards.
04
The main differences are chemical compatibility, durability, and cost. Plastic offers moisture resistance and strong branding potential, fiber is economical and well suited to solvent-based products, and aluminum resists heat and protects reactive formulations. Plastic cartridges support the widest range of decoration, so the right choice depends on the product being packaged.
05
Cartridges come in a range of sizes, but the 10 oz standard — marked as either 300ml or 310ml — is by far the most common, fitting most standard caulking guns. Evergreen offers caulking cartridges in 250ml, 280ml, 290ml, 300ml, and 310ml, plus custom sizes compatible with a range of plungers, tops, nozzles, and spouts.
06
The standard grease cartridge holds 400g and conforms to DIN 1284, the specification for grease cartridges used with lever-type hand and battery grease guns. Fiber grease cartridges are offered in a wider range, from 132ml to 660ml. Evergreen produces grease cartridges in PP, HDPE, and fiber, with closure options including easy-open lids, piston caps, and screw caps.
07
An integrated nozzle is molded as part of the cartridge body, while a separate nozzle is a distinct piece attached to the cartridge. Integrated nozzles, available on plastic cartridges, reduce assembly and offer a clean one-piece design. Separated nozzles allow the nozzle to be swapped or matched to different tip styles and applications. Evergreen offers both structures to suit different dispensing needs.
08
Yes — cartridges can be decorated to build brand identity and stand out on the shelf. Common options include offset printing, silkscreen printing, and in-mold labeling, with pressure-sensitive labeling typically used for fiber cartridges. Evergreen's graphic and printing capabilities help brands turn functional industrial packaging into a point of shelf differentiation.
